Quinton Rampage Jackson and Keith “The Dean of Mean” Jardine fought in UFC 96, with Rampage coming out on top. Although before the fight, my money was on Rampage, Jardine fought a great fight. His odd fighting style, with his aggressiveness allowed to him to take (in my opinion) the first round. Rampage was just able to be aggressive enough to keep the judges on his side for the second and third round. Right at the end of the third round Rampage had some solid blows that knocked Jardine down and he was able to take the third round.
The Jackson Jardine fight determined who would go up against Rashad Evans for the Light Heavyweight belt. Had Jardine won the fight, Evans would have fought Lyoto “the Dragon” Machida. Due the the win, Rampage and Evans will fight at UFC 98, May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
At the end of the fight, Jackson told an excited crowd, “I want my belt back,” which resulted in a face off between Evans and Jackson. During the stare down, Evans and Jackson were talking trash for really quite a long time, and Jackson ended the war of words by taking the microphone from Joe Rogan and saying: “your gonna see some black on black crime.” He then threw the microphone, and left the ring. Well Rampage, I wanna see that “black on black crime,” and my money is in your corner. Have a look at the video here:
